I want to thank all the voters for their confidence in me for the last eight elections. I have always tried to
protect the taxpayers and keep taxes as low as possible. I was instrumental in reopening Save-A-Lot
supermarket as a member of the CDA board of Directors. I got many seniors grandfathered into senior
discount for cable tv.Mayor Lopriore and I were successful in gaining $5,000 a year more
in franchise fee for the city and also $2500 in funds for the Access 23 TV Station. Jim Hendry and I
initiated the changes to the red light at Kingston Avenue and East Main Street. Added 4 way stop
signs at Pine and Glass Streets and Kellogg and Neversink Avenue as well as at Ball and Sussex
Streets with the help of former Councilman Tom Hoppey.
I was born and raised in Port Jervis and I have raised my family here. I love this City and
the people. I have not seen any other City that responds to people who need help like this City does.
My wife and I are fortunate enough to have our family still living in the area so we can still get together
frequently. If you look through the pages of this website you will see some of the accomplishments that
I have been fortunate enough to complete. I am not a political man. I just want to do the best job that
I can to improve this City and the citizens quality of life.I have always worked closely with the Police
Chief and the Building Inspector to improve issues connected with quality of life in this City.
There is still a lot of work to be done. We have to improve our sewer system. We have to widen East Main
Street in our Tri State Corridor and rebuild the two culverts by Dunkin Doughnuts and the Neversink River
Bridge. This will help to relieve the traffic problem there. We have to improve our manner of providing
water for the Berme Road residents. We have to improve our water treatment plant by gaining funds to
obtain a clarifier so that our drinking water is more potable during the warm weather months. We have to
try and relieve the flooding problem in the third ward.We have to get businesses to come here and provide
jobs for our residents. This would help to keep our young people here after they finish schooling. As a
member of the Board of Directors of the Community Development Agency I can contribute to this effort.
We have to obtain funding for the White Water Kayaking project over at Riverside Park. That project will
do a lot to attract people to our area. We have to develop the Round House property. We have to try and
unite the landlords for the downtown properties and set rents that will attract businesses to the empty
storefronts. We have to reduce the cost of government. I think a Commission should be appointed to study our
Charter and make recommendations to remove antiquated and unnecessary provisions of the Charter.
